Here's the best Vinyl moments in my record collecting life, experiences i'm sure everyone shares to some degree and ones that are just not possible with mp3's

1. Discovering Your Christmas Present is Ten Records Under Your Parent's Bed (age 13)

Yes, when i was thirteen I will finally admit to hunting for my presents and being overjoyed by finding Deep Purple Made in Japan, Alice Cooper Goes to Hell, Elton John Single Man and Tumbleweed Connection, Wilson Picket's Greatest Hits, Blood Seat and Tears, Thin Lizzy Live and Dangerous and more. I gave them a list but never thought they would do it. Better than finding a file of itunes downloads by a long shot

2. Sitting in an Armchair With the Sgt Pepper's Cover While You Listen (age 18)

It's amazing how this adds to the musical experience, just looking at the people on the front,reading the lyrics, feeling the album....

3. Showing Off Your Music Collection When a Girl Comes Back to Your Place (age 21)

It doesnt really work if you ask her to come to the computer while you show her your mp3 files. Leave a few choice covers accidentally in your lounge room (maybe Leonard Coen, maybe Vaughn Williams or Miles Davis)

4. Taking My Children to the Second Hand Record Shop to Buy Ten Albums Each With a $20 Dollar Note (age 42)

Yes, we came away with the eclectic mix of three Beatles albums, Wings, Mary Poppins, ELO Out of the Blue, The Wiggles, Black Sabbath Paranoid, America, Eagles Greatest Hits, Abba and Keith Jarrett The Koln Concert, etc

5. Finding Lost Heavy Psychedelia (age 43)

Recently bought Sir Lord Baltimore, The Move, Egg, Atomic Rooster and Quatermass albums at a hole in the wall specialist record shop. Beats torrent files anyday
