Radiohead Greatest Hits: EMI Release June 2

Is a Greatest Hits Album appropriate for Radiohead or not ? Are they 'too big' for it.

Well, they are, according to the band: guitartist Ed O’Brien’s recently said “They’re planning to do a greatest hits for April, May to coincide with our tour,that’s an interesting one. We won’t be doing any promotion for that, obviously.”

ateaseweb.com, reports that a single cd version, double cd version and a 4 LP limited edition box will be available June 2

Robert Plant Thinks Radiohead Are Boring

I missed this when it was published on nme.com in January: What do you think ?

"Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant labelled Radiohead “crap” while out drinking in north London at the weekend, according to The Sun’s Buzarre column. According to the paper, Plant was drinking with a woman and demanded that the music playing in the pub was changed. Apparently Plant described Radiohead as “rhyming crap”, and also rubbished Red Hot Chili Peppers (whose music he likened to a nursery rhyme) before settling on Captain Beefheart"

Personally, while I am not going to deify Radiohead (who are brilliant by the way) this is the kind of attitude that justifies people's view of Baby Boomers as Rock Triumphalists, as Rock Curmudgeons who think the world stopped in 1970

That doesnt mean that it's not worth reviving (hence this site), it just means that in 2050 it is ok for other old fogies to revive Radiohead, Ryan Adams, The Streets,ect.

Don't Believe The Hype ! Thom Yorke Says New Album is as Good As Revolver

With the recent release of Radiohead's In Rainbows in physical CD format Thom Yorke likens it to The Beatles Revovler, Bowie's Hunky Dory and Lou Reed's, Transformer. He claims, in a recent edition of Der Spiegel, that In Rainbows is their definitive album and harks back to the classic days of 45 minute LP's.

"I believe in the rock album as an artistic form of expression. In Rainbows is a conscious return to this form of 45-minute statement. Of course it was possible to make it shorter, but our aim was to describe in 45 minutes, as coherently and conclusively as possible, what moves us." Radiohead recived alot of press in October for releasing the album for free on their internet site, or rather asking fans to pay what they would like.

In Rainbows is clearly a good album but can it be compared with these classic albums in the history of rock ?
