I am in the process of falling in love with The Incredible String Band ! Thanks to Peppermint Store I am listening to them for the first time ever and loving them.

The Incredible String Band were a scottish folk band who were in their hayday from 1965 to 1974. They were the band that broke the somewhat staid folk scene in Britain, opening the doors fully to the influence of psychedelia and world music.

They produced 11 albums during this period but their most significant was The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter (1968). Sitar, harpsichord, oud, multi-track recording, all blended with traditional folk in one of the most exotic and beautiful sounds of the era.

The Incredible String band had an enormous influence on the more popular stars of the time. The Beatles and The Stones saw them before they produced Sgt Pepper's and Their Stanic Majesty's Request. Robert Plant gives them responsibility for Led Zep's experiments with folk.

A must have in any collection !
