Rock Revival's Top Jazz Covers of Rock

As you can probably tell Rock Revival loves Jazz and has been evangelising it for some time. Not perhaps what we should be doing as a rock blog, but the boundary between the two has never been all that clear.

Is prog rock or jazz, why does Iggy Pop quote John Coltrane as his inspiration and what did Hendrix and Gil Evans talk about when they met.....

Well, a simpler combination of jazz and rock comes in jazz covers of rock songs, of which there are quite a few.

Here is Rock Revival's Top Ten

1 Charlie Hunter: Come as you are

2 Cassandra Wilson: Tupelo Honey'

3 Hey Joe: Medeski Martin and Wood

4 Buddy Rich:Norwegian Wood.

5 Chick Corea; Elano Rigby

6 Elvin Jones The Sounds of Silence

7 Zoot Sims: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

8 Who Are the Brain Police? : Ed Palermo

9 Nina Simone:House of the Rising Son

10 Cassandra Wilson Last Train to Clarksville

Cool post. I'm wracking my brain to come up with some more to add to your list, but I like your choices. I'm still wracking. . . still.

I'll get back to you.
