* Uk blues-rock peaks with the Who, Yardbirds, Paul Butterfield,etc

* Elvis meets the Beatles

* Southern soul comes into it's own

* the Byrds invent folk-rock

* James Brown invents funk

* the art of protest escalates on the "Eve of Destruction".
