Mott The Hoople - Mott The Hoople (Live) (4 CD Box Set) Release 4 August 2008

Mott the Hoople was a 1970s English rock band who had made three albums at the beginning of the 70's before David Bowie rescued them from splitting up.

He offerred them 'Suffragette City' from his soon to be released Ziggy Stardust album, a generous gesture indeed, which Mott the Hoople promptly turned down. Bowie persevered and wrote them "All the Young Dudes" instead, the song that made their name as slighly beyond their cult following.

This didnt save them, however, and guitarist Mick Ralphs soon left to help form Bad Comapny and was replaced by former Spooky Tooth guitarist Luther Grosvenor. Ian Hunter and Mick Ronson left in 1974 and the band continued until 1976 as 'Mott'.

A 4CD Box Set of Mott the Hoople Live will be released on August 4 2008 by Buffin. It provides an important historic and compelling live historic document of their much loved but short lived career. Comes with a 48 page book. This is a limited edition release with only 2,000 copies being produced. Rare unseen photos being supplied from the personal archives of Verden Allen, Dale Griffin, Mick Ralphs and Overend Watts
