CD Liner Notes:
As anyone with a passing interest in the music of Jimi Hendrix knows, the legendary guitarist died in September 1970 having only released three official studio albums along with the contract-fulfilling Band of Gypsys live album and the 'work in progress,' Cry of Love which was later to make its posthumous appearance. In addition to these, there were hundreds of hours of unreleased material left in the can. These tapes ranged from casual jams to nearly- finished masters, some of which would eventually see the light of day almost twenty years after Hendrix's death. Jimi however was always happy to jam in the studio and from these sessions often came the ideas for new songs. Hendrix never turned down an opportunity to play with whoever was around or even passing the studio at the time. Some of these jams, with the likes of Steve Winwood and Jefferson Airplane's Jack Casady, would even find an outlet on albums like Electric Ladyland as the track 'Voodoo Chile' proves. Jimi was also keen on jamming live and often got up on stage and joined many a great artist (the most famous of these spontaneous performances was when he jammed with Cream shortly after arriving in the UK in late 1966) and it was even rumored that he had intended to jam with Sly And The Family Stone on the night that he died. Whenever Jimi was in the studio the tapes always seemed to be rolling and from these tapes we have drawn the best examples of Jimi's artistry in the context of a musician jamming with other like minded musicians. 6 CD set, comprising for the first time ever many of Jimi's unique jams, includes BB King, Buddy Guy, Buddy Miles, Elvin Bishop, Eric Burdon, Lee Oskar, Paul Butterfield, Billy Cox, Mitch Mitchell, Tracy Nelson, Juma Sultan, Larry Lee, Mike Ephron and Jerry Velez. Officially licensed from the estate of Hendrix's former manager, Michael Jeffery. Numbered and limited edition of only 2000 copies worldwide. Over seven and a half hours total playing time."
