Rock Revival's Top Ten Comedy Rock Albums of All Time

1. This is Spinal Tap Soundtrack

This was too close to the bone for many 80’s rockers when it came out. Much of the detail of the movie was actually based on real events: Yes drummer Alan White was stuck in a prop similar to the clam shell in the movie and KISS once got lost back stage trying to do their show !

2. The Rutles: All You Need is Cash

One of many ‘albums’ by the Beatles satirists, including Ouch !, Sgt Ruters Only Darts Club Band, The Shite Album, Shabby Road, Bang on the Loo, All Things Fall Down.

3. Dr. Demento Presents: Greatest Novelty CD of All Time!

LA DJ specialising in novelty songs with 12 compilation albums to his name, the man who discovered Weird Al Yankovic

4. Cheech and Chong Soundtrack to Up in Smoke

The movie grossed an incredible 41 million, the word ‘man’ was said 295 times, 212 in one scene at the Mexican border.

5. Tenacious D The Pick of Destiny

Love Kikapoo, the story of a poor boy in the middle ages who makes his name rocking in Hollywood after a prophecy from the God Dio !

6. Pat Boone: In a Metal Mood

You have to take your hat off to Mr Boone for this: covers of Judas Priest, ACDC, Alice Cooper, Nazareth, Metallica

7. The Dead Milkmen Not Richard but Dick

Very funny satirical punk band: song titles across their career include “My Many Smells’, Taking Retards to the Zoo’. ‘If You Love Someone Set Them on Fire”

8. Ween Axis: Bold as Boognish
Released in 1987, you can get it at http://browntracker.net/

9. Richard Cheese: Apertif for Destruction

Swing versions of rock classics, Enter Sandman is a highlight
10. Hayseed Dixies: A Hot Piece of Grass

Bluegrass rock and roll covers including the Ace of Spades
