Rock Revival's Classic Albums (1978): The Cars Debut
The Cars were one of the great bands of the late 80's, a band that held the tension perfectly, between 70's guitar-driven rock and syth-pop that would eventually reveal it's true (evil ?) nature in the dominance of new wave
The Cars (1978) was their debut album and the best of their six releases between 78 and 84.
It contained all three of their most popular songs (Just What I Needed, Good Times Roll, Best Friends Girl) and is ranked 282 on Rolling Stone500 greatest albums of all time.
In 2005, Greg Hawkes (keyboards) and Elliot Eaton (guitar, vocals) joined none other than Todd Rundgren, forming The New Cars.
Rik Ocasek will never join, preferring to continue his solo work (he's released over seven albums since the early 80's)
