Rainbow, of course, was the fantastic rock band that brought together the awesome talents of Deep Purple's Ritchie Blackmore and Elf's Ronnie James Dio
In late 1997 they cam very close to a reunion, Drummer Cozy Powell approached Ritchie Blackmore to see if he would be interested in the reunion but was prevented by Cozy's death in 98. Both Dio and Blackmore had previously agreed but then declined without the original Rising line-up being possible. Depite many rumours both have repeated that this will never take place
Ritchie Blackmore & Rainbow - 'Collectors Box Set' is due for release August 4
The DVD section features highlights from over 40 years at the top along with the sometimes brutally candid views of ex-bandmates, including Nicky Simper & Glenn Hughes & is accompanied by a 72-page book with interviews with Ian Gillan, Bob Daisley & Blackmore.
The CD / book in the set tells the true story of rock giants Rainbow using concert material from TV, film & radio & the words of former band members including Graham Bonnet, Joe Lynn Turner, Dougie White, Bob Daisley & Bobby Rondinelli.
