Slayer are one of the big 4 old-school US thrash metal bands, along with Metallica, Anthrax, and Megadeth. Their 1986 release, Reign in Blood, which has been called "the heaviest album of all time" by Kerrang!magazine
Mastodon is one of the most important bands in the new breed of US metal (known as the New Wave of American Heavy Metal),an essentially prog metal band that also relies on doom, stoner, hardcore punk, and thrash.
These formidable bands will join forces on the roads together this Autumn for a co-headline tour billed as 'Unholy Alliance Tour, Chapter III'.
They will play fourteen nights in October and November in the UK, Germany, France, Switzerland and Austria. Also performing on each night is support act Trivium.
Mastodon are still working on the follow-up to their 2006 album 'Blood Mountain' are in the studio with producer Brendan O'Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam).
