Long before m....f....g Gangsta rap people used to actually ban music on the radio.......here are twenty of the best
The Dead Kennedies- Too Drunk to Fuck (whats wrong with this ?)
Sex Pistols - God Save The Queen (perhaps sailing down the Thames to Buckingham Palace playing it live was pushing it a bit)
Cliff Richard - Honky Tonk Angel (self-censored, he didnt realise a Honky Tonk angel was a hooker !)
The Stranglers - Peaches (takes me back to being 14 again)
Jane Birkin - Je T’aime (Serge Gainsbourg refers to "entre tes reins", work it out)
MC5's-Kick Out The Jams (first ever recording of mofo....how things have changed)
Lonnie Donegan - Digging my Potatoes (he sang, "suck on my sweet bone")
Ivor Biggun - The Winker's song (he also had an excellent song about "trouser coughs')
Frank Zappa- Bobby Brown (well, so many to chose from, Jewish Princess certainly would have been banned if it was a single)
The Kinks - Lola (Coca-Cola changed to Cherry Cola, what the ?)
The Troggs- I Can't Control Myself (Reg Presley makes Orgasm sounds)
Rolling Stones - Lets Spend The Night Together
Mungo Jerry - Have a Whiff on Me (from the man who brought us........)
Ten Years After - Good morning Little Schoolgirl (this one i agree with, hearing Van singing it is even more worrying)
Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band - Open Your Box (in my view they should have recorded her entire discography)
The Rolling Stones - Star Star (it was originally called Starfucker)
Hawkwind - "Urban Guerrila" (Uk terro was at it's peak on it's release)
Ian Dury - "Fucking Ada"
XTC - Respectable Street (lots about sex positions, and neighbors vomiting over each others fences, why ?)
The Beatles - A day in the life (drugs)

Jello Biafra was a genius. It was great how the DK didn't care about public scrutiny, especially with the release of Frankenchrist and the special artwork nestled inside.
