Daniel Miller: Child of Krautock, Father of Techno-Pop

New Wave has a pretty bad reputation but it has it's roots in the intelligent avant garde psychedelia of Krautrock.

Take Daniel MIller, for example,a man who discovered Krautrock in art school in London, bought a cheap Korg 700S synthesiser and a four track tape recorder and created The Normal.

The Normal only released one single, but what a great single it was. He was a pretty adventurous chap, approaching Rough Trade Records in Portobello Road, London with a box of self-pressed records, a move that lead to his career as a producer, founder of Mute Records and general God of techno-pop (Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Fad Gadget)
