The Pretty Things S.F. Sorrow (1968): The First Concept Album

Here's an album that deserves to take it's place with the greats, one that was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, during the same period when The Beatles and Pink Floyd were recording Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and The Piper at the Gates of Dawn

It renowned as one of the first rock concept albums, a song cycle, telling the story of the main character, Sebastian F. Sorrow, from birth through love, war, tragedy, madness, and the disillusionment of old age.

This is the album that inspired probably the greatest Rock Opera of all time, The Who's Tommy, released one year later

Here's what Lester bangs had to say back in 1970

S. F. Sorrow Is Born - The Pretty Things
