What Are The Greatest Greatest Hits Albums?

Some Greatest Hits albums are really not worth the vinyl they are recorded on, distilling a band down to radio friendly tracks that detract from the concept of whole albums. Who needs The Best of Opeth ? The Best of Fairport Convention ? Volumes 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 of Van MOrrison's Greatest Hits ?

Other albums, however, stand the test of time, as a testament to a great band, tying together to make a classic album

Here are Rock Revival's Top Ten

1. The Eagles Greatest Hits 1971-1975

2. The best of the Doobie Brothers

3. Sam Cooke Portrait of a Legend 1951-1964

4. America: History

5. Chronicle, Vol. 1,Creedence Clearwater Revival

6. The Byrds Greatest Hits

7. Legend Bob Marley

8. Singles The Smiths

9. Bad Music for Bad People the Cramps

10. Number Ones Michael Jackson

Portrait of a Legend is a solid choice not only because it contains some of his gospel classics, but because it's recording is superior to 1986's The Man and His Music.
