Steve Katz Joins Blood, Sweat and Tears for 40th Anniversary Reunion Tour

Blood Sweat and Tears 40th Anniversary Logo

Blood, Sweat & Tears are an incredible band, blending rock, blues and jazz and producing some killer songs, like "Im Your Vehicle', 'When I Die', 'Lucretia McEvil', 'Fire and Rain'. The were actually the first band I ever saw live, thirty years ago, a pretty memorable show.

Founding member Steve Katz, was originally a member of The Blues Project with Al Kooper. Kooper soon left but the band took off with the assistance of the powerful vocalist David Clayton-Thomas.

Steve katz had also considered Stephen Stills originally but he had other fish to fry.

Steve left in '73 as the band moved more into fusion. He went on to make his name as a producer, of 1979 album Short Stories Tall Tales for the Irish band Horslips, and the Lou Reed albums Rock 'n' Roll Animal and Sally Can't Dance

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the band and the exciting news is that Steve has re-joined the band to celebrate

Hey Paul,

Nice site. I saw Steve Katz w/Blood Sweat & Tears, 'live' @ the Philadelpia Spectrum: July 12, 1969. Great concert that I will never forget!

The only thing is ... on your post, you list Blood Sweat & Tears as writing "Vehicle", when it was really the band, Ides of March, who wrote the tune. Just wanted to clarify that.

Many thanks!

Mark
