Rock Revival's Classic Albums: ELO Out of the Blue (1977, 2007)

Out of the Blue, released in 1977 is one of the most incredible albums of the prog crossover period, the crowning achievement of Jeff Lynne, the man who George Harrison claimed he would have loved the beatles to sound like if they had stuck together.

It's the ultimate test of whether you think you are too cool to like good music !

In a phenomenal burst of creativity Jeff wrote the entire album in three and a half weeks in the Swiss Alps. Four million copies had been ordered before the albums actual release.

I highly recommend the remastered version released in 2007 for quality; if your really in love with it there is also a 30th Anniversary special edition with a push-out replica ELO Space Station !

In 2007 the album performed the incredible feat of going to number 18 on the UK Album charts.

In August 2006, it was named by the UK's Q magazine as the #11 'Guilty Pleasure' album of all time

Highlights: Mr Blue Sky (wow !), It's Over, Sweet Talkin Woman)
