Pinetop Perkins is an incredible blues musican who is still playing live and making records at the grand old age of 95 (his birthday is this week!)

Not many musicians live to that age, that's for sure, except maybe Keith Richards who may just live beyond one hundred.

Like World War I veteran's he is truly the last of his generation. There really are none of these Mississippi original bluesmen left.

Pinetop has been playing blues and boogie piano for more than six decades – including a 12 years with Muddy Waters. He has also worked and recorded with Sonny Boy Williamson, Robert Nighthawk, Earl Hooker, B.B. King, Willie Dixon and Howlin’ Wolf.

He has a new album coming out: Pinetop Perkins and Friends, July 28, 2008, featuring none other than Eric Clapton, B.B. King and Jimmie Vaughan, bassist Willie Kent, drummer Willie “Big Eyes” Smith and many more.
