Ray Davies (The Kinks) in Sydney March 2008

Now for a real treat for Sydney rock fans, the great Ray Davies, frontman of one of the most important British bands of all time, The Kinks is set to play at the Enmore Theatre, March 17 as part of the East Coast Bluesfest Sideshows.

Think about this: Lola, You Really Got Me, Dedicated Follower of Fashion, All Day and All Night, Come Dancing, he wrote the lot...

He has so many claims to fame: as a proto-punk laying the foundation for the sloppy work of the Sex Pistols and Sham 69, a writer of rock anthems like no other, creater of poignant songs about the everyday (aka Mike Skinner, The Streets) and highly acclaimed solo artist in his own right

His recent album Working Man's Cafe (2007) proves he is still on top of his game, melodic, bluesy, wistfull and occasionally wild, coupling the influence of the South (it was recorded in Nashville) with 'Well-respected" Englishness.
